Marie

Marie is my yacht (well, boat to most of you).  She is a Compis 28, a Swedish built 28' masthead sloop designed as a family cruiser in the 70's.  I've owned her for about 6 years now, and it's been a turbulent relationship.  I'm consistently trying to improve her, and consistently failing miserably.  There's a lot of things I want to do to get her ready, and a few things I have to do.  I hope to get back to Sweden in time to spend a few weeks on various updates that are long overdue, and if she's very good, maybe a new set of sails.

Anyway, here she is relaxing on a beautiful day in the Stockholm archipelago:

So I've finally done it

It's been here for a while now, this itch I have.  The thought of just throwing caution to the wind and heading off to sea has been slowly growing for the last few years.

For the last 10 years I've been working in an office, and despite enjoying most of the time, I have decided it's time to try something slightly different.  Last week I took the decision to do it, and handed in my notice, so there's no turning back now.

My plan is to go sailing...  unfortunately I'm not very organised, so the plan hasn't really come much further than that.  I have a small boat in Stockholm, so that's a start, and I intend to spend the summer months on her sailing around the Baltic sea.
